About
Farah Al Maaita's work stems from a long-standing interest in memory and perception. She is interested in the ways light shapes perception and how visual experiences become embedded in memory. Her work often begins with familiar architectural spaces, examining their transformation through shadow, contrast, and abstraction.
Photography became a way of investigating these observations. Through the camera, she began exploring architecture not as a fixed structure, but as a shifting experience shaped by perception, movement, and light. Her practice focuses on abstraction, using contrast, shadow, and fragmentation to reveal overlooked details and alternative ways of seeing.
Today, her work moves between photography, archival research, and installation. Drawing from personal and collective memory, she creates images that question how places are remembered, forgotten, and reconstructed through time.
